Giant prehistoric beasts

Some of the coolest extinct animals are now the most mundane. A giant rodent the size of a small car is much more exciting than the one scurrying on the subway track. Prehistoric animals almost always seem to be larger than life, and a wonder to behold.
Gigantic Ground Sloth
Megatherium are related to modern ground sloths, with one major difference: they were the size of elephants. These beasts would use their huge size to deter predators and get at low branches in trees. One of the largest land mammals of all time, Megatherium could weigh up to 8 tons.

How many were told beautiful stories about purebred dogs, who were born with one hind feet and lo! learned to walk on them. And then an ordinary mongrel, which has paralyzed hind legs, without preparation, a good owner and a veterinarian earn a meal on two front. For life must be grasped.
Smokey – the loudest cat in the world
Posted by: | CommentsFor cat lovers, there is nothing more soothing than the sound of their pet purring with contentment. However, when Smokey the cat kicks off, it’s time to reach for the ear plugs. Pet cat Smokey is believed to have the Loudest Purr in the world – with piercing purrs as loud as a lawnmower.
Most cats purr at around 25 decibels but Smokey’s powerful purrs average an amazing 80 dB. However, when measured close-up her purrs reach 92 decibels, equivalent to the noise of a hair dryer or, it is claimed, a Boeing 737 coming in to land.
